Things have been very busy here at the Bells over the summer period. Although the weather has been patchy, our customers haven’t been & we have welcomed you all thick & fast throughout.
That doesn’t mean all things are rosy & we are coasting. Far from it! Operating costs continue to be an issue as we have had more price rises over the last few weeks on the cost of food & drink. It is getting harder & harder to pass these costs on as there is a ceiling to what someone will pay for Fish & Chips – even as good as ours are!
This all means we have to be continually assessing & growing our business. The Ring O’ Bells is constantly evolving & we have lots more plans to keep your interest as we enter our 17th year – yes that’s our 17th year in the Bells!
Giving people a reason to visit the pub is always a driver for us & our events such as Wine Tastings & Quiz Nights are always a great way of getting you lot in. And with the quiz nights, a way of giving a bit back. We have raised thousands for local charities & organisations & will continue to do so. The next quiz night is on Thursday 5th December where we will be raising funds for The Alzheimer’s Society. We also see our sponsorship of the village cricket & football teams as a great way of connecting with our community. The cricket season has just finished & the First Team had a great season winning promotion. Now, we turn our attention to the larger ball, as the football Swans take centre stage.
Back at the pub we have just completed a mini makeover, fixing boring things like cellar cooling & some of the drainage system. However, we have more exciting plans after Christmas, when we are looking at giving the inside of the pub a much-needed spruce up.
Talking of Christmas, now the nights are getting longer & the kids are back in school, the closer it is getting to Yuletide. Our menus have been finalised & bookings are starting to come in. So, have a look on our website www.ringobellschester.co.uk to see if the Bells is the place for your festive celebration.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the first Bells Blog from me. I will be trying to get one of these out with an update on all things “Pub” every 4 to 6 weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.
Cheers, Ian
